Blues Brothers
A great drawbridge jump with the pursuit copcars sliding back on themselves.

This famous 'shopping mall' car chase was nearly an 'all-mopar' chase with the 74 Dodge Monaco ex-copcar driven by the Blues Brothers leading the other later model Dodge Royal Monacos (I think they all were) through the mall. Mr. HEMI's favorite part of the chase scene is the casual commentary by Dan Akroyd while driving through the mall.

Strong points: Lots of mopar's. Good music score during the chase. May be the only extensive 'in-mall' chase ever filmed. Spinning inverted copcar scene is a classic.

Weak points: Shopping mall somewhat low speed chase. Possibly a little redundant scenery with the chase in the shopping mall.

Bullitt
For many, this is the best car chase movie ever. It starts on the hills of downtown San Francisco and consists of a 68 Dodge Charger (bad guys) vs. a 68 Ford Mustang (good guy). The chase continues out onto the highway outside of San Francisco and ends with a spectacular fiery crash of the Charger. Mr. HEMI's favorite scene of the chase is the subtle smile by the Charger driver (the actual stunt driver) when he thinks he has shaken off Bullitt.

Strong points: Mopar as a primary car in the chase. Good chase on hills of San Francisco. Good engine sounds. Great fiery crash (including the burning bodies in non-edited version). No stupid-looking wimpy shoulder belts on the drivers.

Weak points: Multiple views of the same screeching turn. Pre-existing tire marks on street from previous 'takes'. More hubcaps on Charger fall off than actually exist and some are magically back on in follow-up scenes. Fender dent on Charger occurs and then disappears. Some film 'speed-up' techniques used.
